Boldly Me Announces Official Nonprofit Status

In January 2012, our group sat around a kitchen table and laid out our vision. Our founder, Alanna Powell, who suffers from alopecia, wanted to help people with physical differences build their self-esteem and live boldly.

And Boldly Me was born.

We applied for nonprofit status and by August of 2012, our status became official. This means all donations are tax deductible.

Vice President Keith Martin and President Alanna Powell enjoy lunch at Nonprofit Day 2012 in San Francisco.

Also in August, some of the board members attended Nonprofit Day 2012 (hosted by YNPN and CompassPoint) in San Francisco, where we learned valuable information on best practices in our industry.

And now we have kicked off the Boldly Me blog, where we will provide valuable information and resources for the people we serve, as well as keep readers up to date of our progress as an organization. We also plan to publish stories in the MY STORY section of our blog from people who have suffered from physical differences to serve as validation and inspiration for others.

If you or someone you know has a story to tell, please contact us at info@boldlyme.org.

You may also wish to follow us on Facebook or Twitter.
