Beckett is an illustrator and photographer, a craftsperson and a mom. She has two degrees, a BS in Behavioral Ecology and a BFA in Illustration. She worked in the computer games industry for many years as an artist, animator, concept artist and a lead artist.
Since having her twin boys, she’s been working as a freelance illustrator and photographer. She likes trying new creative things and is always exploring new mediums for expression.
Beckett’s personal blog, artbeco, explores work, life, raising twin boys and everything else. She and her friend Debbie Ohi co-write a blog called Sketcharound that explores creativity for both adults and children. Beckett also has an Etsy shop where she makes and sells crafty items like handmade journals, sketchbooks, notebooks, portfolio covers, jewelry, art and photo prints and other goodies. She is a prolific photographer who enjoys portraiture and nature photography; she posts her photos and illustrations over on her Flickr site, and it has become a sort of visual chronicle of whatever she’s exploring and doing.
People are endlessly fascinating to Beckett, and she really believes that everyone is interesting and beautiful in their own way. Good portraits can help people to see those positive qualities in themselves and others as well. It’s her hope that Boldly Me can help all sorts of people to see how beautiful they are in their own uniqueness.
